63rd Annual Golf Outing And Dinner RECAP

Thursday, August 13, 2026 ~ Wild Ridge & Mill Run Golf Courses

If you didn’t know, I (Dawn) was not at the golf outing this year.  I was in Milwaukee caring for granddaughter #1 while we awaited the arrival of granddaughter #3.  Maelynn Paaj Tshab Yaaj Yang arrived on Wednesday August 12.  Grandma & Grandpa were busy preparing her arrival home while you all were on the golf course Thursday.  Big sister welcomed little sister home on Thursday night.  I haven’t missed a golf outing in 32 years when I gave birth the night before the golf outing.  It was a little hard for me.

Given that, I do not have ALL of the information from the outing.  Although, Barb & many others did a great job of recording as much information as possible.  So here goes…

If you did not attend the golf outing this year, I think you missed a great event.  I heard the weather was not bad – low 80s, mostly clouds, and we were spared with just a few sprinkles.  Of course, any day on the course is better than spending the day in the officeWe used both golf courses again this year having 62 foursomes which is the max the golf course will allow us.  With an earlier tee time of 9:30 (requested by the golf course), we were a bit concerned about that discouraging people away.  It did not.   At 9:30, 31 foursomes teed off from each front nines and the back nines.

We are always seeking feedback on this event – negative or positive.  If you attended and have a critique – we want to know.  If you did not attend because of something – we want to know.  We want to hear from you!   This is especially important this year since I was unable to attend and there were some changes to the outing.

We would like to thank everyone who participated - it is your participation and enthusiasm that makes our outing a success; the Golf Committee: Josh Gardow (Red Cedar Steel) & Colton Franks (Royal Construction); Ryan Johnson (Farrell Equipment) who was placed on the golf committee without his knowledge 😉; Jesse Johnson (Van Ert Electric)  who stepped up and helped us with hauling lots of stuff from the office to the golf course, buying ice, and then turning around and returning some of that stuff the next day to the office.  Jesse and Camden Trautlein also from Van Ert also filled the golfer’s cart with all the needed supplies and then gave rides out to the course to our volunteers and manned hole sponsors; Josh Gardow who helped with registration, during the day and after dinner prize distribution as best as any man on crutches can and Ryan Johnson who was our emcee for the pre tee off and after dinner announcements;  and the staff at Wild Ridge Golf Courses deserve a lot of credit for a well-organized event.

  • A big Shout out out to BARB, my everyday/in office right hand woman.  This outing could not have been pulled off without Barb’s help and support.  I am so grateful!  I threw so much at her over the past 2 weeks and she took care of whatever I asked.
  • Sue Frederick , our part time employee who spent the entire day of the outing at the office.  And also helped prepare and organize prior to and after this crazy event.
  • Denise Roach (Ahern) who stepped up in a big way this year in my absence and became Barb’s right hand gal.  Denise took charge of making sure that our volunteers had what they needed and got taken to their appropriate spots on the course, she then ran lunches out to those people, gave them breaks as needed, took photos out on the golf course, helped Barb with whatever Barb needed help with and continued on until after dinner – thank you, Denise!!!  Barb has already determined that Denise can have the job next year.
  • All of our Volunteers:  Vergene Knudsen, Sally Pettis & Carmen Olson of Market & Johnson, Tim Frederick of Superior Building Specialty Products along with his grandsons Carter & Mason; Tina Laws of Ahern; Tricia Friederichs of Rhom Construction;  Niva Nicolette of Wendel Companies; and Alexandria Farmer of Northwestern Mutual who all helped out in various ways at our Hole in One, Betting Holes, and Scholarship Raffles.   Consider volunteering next year, it's a great time - ask anyone listed above!  And a shout out to Wendy & Michelle of Haas Sons Inc. who were hosting a manned hole, but showed up early to help with registration.
  • All of our Golf Hole Sponsors and door prize donors (See list on this flyer).  Especially those who manned their holes giving out prizes, goodies, etc.:  Fireline Sprinkler, Eau Claire Insulation, Haas Sons, Northwestern Bank, Border States, American Engineering Testing, Midwest Mechanical and Farrell Equipment & Supply Co. who also gave out t-shirts to all of the golfersYou all add a lot of fun to an already fun event!
  • Culligan Water Conditioning for donating water for our golfers out on the course and for our meals.
  • Wild Ridge Golf Course for donating the golf package which we raffled off (proceeds go towards our scholarship fund) along with allowing us to use their beautiful facilities to put on this fabulous event.  Steve, Trevor & Hannah and their entire staff do a tremendous job with everything.

We still have a few door prizes unclaimed in our office.  The captain from your group was sent an email notifying them if we have a door prize.  We also have the tree that in our office that was donated – we did not make note of who won that prize.
