Derrick Companies Remembers Founders
Both Bill and Mary Ann Derrick, husband and wife, and founders of Derrick Companies, passed away earlier this year. They had many titles: Parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, leaders, builders, visionaries, mentors, and all around wonderful people. They built a company, a culture, and a community.
Just last year, in 2017, Derrick Companies celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Bill Derrick Sr. recounted how he decided to place an ad in the local paper and then came home to tell Mary Ann about it. With three small children at home at the time it must have seemed like a risky move. They partnered together and started with a crew of three and grew to a crew of eight in just a few short months. They worked incredibly hard, instilled a strong work ethic in their children, and reinvested in the business. Their tenacity and integrity helped grow Derrick Companies to a firm that builds homes, develops neighborhoods, and designs and constructs manufacturing and commercial facilities throughout Western Wisconsin and
Mary Ann passed away January 29, 2018, and Bill passed away July 31, 2018, just six months after his beloved wife of 65 years. Bill and Mary Ann are survived by five children, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as countless other friends, family, and community members.
